A 23-year-old Malaysian nurse living in Singapore, faces probation for stealing Pokemon cards worth SGD480 (RM1,459). Influenced by TikTok, he saw them as a profitable trade to repay debts to friends. 

Malaysian nurse in Singapore receives probation

Pleading guilty, he received a year’s probation and must do 40 hours of community service, staying indoors 11 pm to 6 am. His parents posted a SGD5,000 (RM15,000) bond. 

He completed polytechnic studies in April 2021, faced withheld diplomas due to SGD7,000 (RM21,140) fees. He turned to theft, aiming to clear debts, but the sold cards remain unrecovered, per reports by The Straits Times.
