Apparently a discussion is going around social media about how luxury brands rebrand their plastic coated leather bags as something exotic like caviar or saffiano leather. However, these processes are used to ensure standardization within the brand’s product categories as leather is not always consistent.

Additionally, there are several accusations thrown towards these luxury brands from commenters on social media. A user claims that some of these brands are quite literally not luxury at all and their items are made at a fraction of the cost they sell them for.
Others state that brands like Coach and Hermes would typically not add plastic to their leather products and would leave them to be as natural as possible. However, Coach also has a line of canvas items which are sold at a similar price to their leather goods.
