SINGAPORE: Sixteen Malaysians were among the 211 passengers on Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 from London to Singapore, which made an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok due to extreme turbulence. The turbulence, encountered over the Irrawaddy Basin at 37,000ft, resulted in one fatality, a 73-year-old British man. As of 7.50pm, 18 people were hospitalized, and 12 received outpatient treatment.

There was little warning of the chaos that was about to be unleashed onboard the London Singapore flight SQ321 with three hours left on the journey from London to Singapore says Malaysian student Dzafran Azmir got the uneasy feeling the Boeing 777-300R plane was tilting upwards and beginning to shake. A very dramatic drop of the flight ensued and everyone seated and not wearing seatbelt was launched immediately into the ceiling.
