Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced enhancements in public assistance programs, including SARA and STR saying the latter’s allocation rose by RM2 billion, benefiting nine million recipients. SARA’s allocation increased to RM700 million, aiding 700,000 recipients with RM1,200 each. The Rubber Production Incentive (IPG) and school student assistance (BAP) were also increased, demonstrating the government’s financial management shift to better support the public.

“The S TR allocation has been raised by RM2 billion or 25 percent, from RM8 billion in 2023 to RM10 billion in 2024, benefiting around nine million recipients, equivalent to 60 percent of the adult population of the country,” he says in a National Address broadcast live on local media channels on Tuesday.
