KUALA LUMPUR – The High Court was informed that Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak attempted to obstruct the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). Senior MACC investigator Nur Aida Ariffin testified that Najib, during his tenure as Prime Minister, allegedly directed actions to impede the anti-corruption agency’s probe, including shutting down the 1MDB case.

However, Najib’s lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, argued that there was no concrete evidence showing Najib issued such orders. Nur Aida cited examples like replacing the MACC Chief Commissioner, arresting MACC officers, and former Attorney General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali closing the case despite recommendations for further action.
