Petaling Jaya: This afternoon, police arrested the grandparents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, an autistic boy, to assist in the investigation of his murder. Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the couple was detained at 2:30 PM by the D9 unit of the Selangor Police Headquarters.

Earlier, Zayn’s mother provided testimony without making a plea at the Magistrates’ Court. Her lawyer, Mahmud Jumaat, stated that the police’s request to record a guilty plea under Section 26(1) of the Evidence Act was objected to by both parents’ lawyers. Magistrate Zhafran Rahim Hamzah recorded that no plea was made.
