Indonesia’s communications minister warned social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, to comply with regulations barring adult content or face shutdown. The country, with strict anti-obscenity laws, sent a warning letter to X, which recently updated policies to permit consensual adult content. Indonesia will send more letters before deciding on potential closure. X has 24.85 million users in Indonesia.
Indonesia minister threatens
Last year, the site X.com was blocked under the country’s curbs on online pornography and gambling. Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Informatics said the site was restricted as the domain had been previously used by sites that did not adhere to the country’s strict laws against “negative” content such as pornography and gambling.
