SINGAPORE: Two men, aged 26 and 47, will be charged in court on Saturday for their involvement in malware-enabled scams targeting Singaporeans since June 2023. The suspects were arrested in Malaysia following a joint investigation by the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the Hong Kong Police Force, and the Royal Malaysia Police.

The men allegedly operated servers to infect Android phones with malicious apps, allowing scammers to control the devices and access banking information. In 2023, there were at least 1,899 cases in Singapore, resulting in losses of over S$34.1 million (US$25.1 million). The joint team dismantled the complex criminal network over seven months.
