The syndicate was exposed during an investigation into the death of a 38-year-old man in Kulai on May 6. Johor police chief M Kumar revealed the syndicate targeted individuals without relatives, taking out RM500,000 policies in their names without their knowledge. Eight men, aged 23 to 49, have been arrested. The syndicate’s plan was uncovered before they could process the insurance claim, and the case is being investigated as murder.
