Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that while cancelling agreements with Israel-related companies like Apple and Microsoft might sound appealing, it is not realistic.
He emphasised the distinction between Israel-based companies and those headquartered in Israel, defending the Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) takeover plan involving Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP).

Anwar pointed out that companies like Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia have interests in Israel, making a complete cancellation impractical. Despite the rhetoric, he acknowledged the government’s decision to ban Israeli companies from operating in the country.
Recently, Apple opened its first store in Malaysia. The MAHB controversy arose when Khazanah Nasional Berhad announced a consortium with GIP to acquire airport shares.
