Malaysia was ranked the second worst country for work-life balance out of 60 nations in the Global Life-Work Balance Index by Remote. The index reviewed the highest GDP countries with data collected in March 2023.

Malaysia scored 27.51 out of 100, with an average workweek of 40.8 hours, 19 days of annual leave, and a minimum wage of USD 1.07 per hour. The happiness index was 5.71 out of 10, and LGBTQ+ inclusivity scored 9 out of 100. Malaysia ranked lowest among Asian countries, while New Zealand topped the list with a score of 79.35.
