Perikatan Nasional (PN) seems to be struggling in the Sungai Bakap by-election campaign, with their events receiving little enthusiasm and mostly attended by their own party workers. This was reported by a pro-PH website. Social media users mocked the low turnout, suggesting it would be better to hold meetings online.

Internal conflicts within PAS have also surfaced, with reports of disagreements and boycotts. The party’s election machinery appears weak, and their candidate, Abidin Ismail, has faced criticism over his academic qualifications. Despite their efforts, PAS supporters seem unmotivated, knowing a win in Sungai Bakap won’t impact the ruling coalition’s two-thirds majority in Penang’s state assembly.
