Six former Bersatu MPs who supported Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will keep their seats, as confirmed by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul. Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin revealed that Johari cited a “flimsy excuse” for not vacating Suhaili Abdul Rahman’s Labuan seat, due to an ongoing court case.

Johari’s letter argued that Bersatu’s rule for forfeiting memberships violated MPs’ constitutional rights and parliamentary freedoms. This decision comes despite the anti-hopping law intended to penalize MPs who leave their parties. The MPs involved are from Bukit Gantang, Jeli, Gua Musang, Kuala Kangsar, Labuan, and Tanjong Karang.
