“[Bitter bruised durians] stick to the throat; some describe it as being like swallowing crushed Panadol pills,” said one durian seller. Last month, a Malaysian durian seller, VOon Z’y from Ipoh, went viral on Facebook for posting a photo of severely ‘bruised’ durians, with flesh looking bluish-black. He wrote in Chinese that a customer dismissed it as spoiled, so he took it home to eat.
