The ongoing proceedings are scheduled for July 29, 2024, at the High Court of Insolvency in Kuala Lumpur. Netizens have expressed differing views: some argue that if an ordinary citizen were involved, LHDN would take stricter measures, while others find it unfair that prominent individuals receive different treatment.

Meanwhile, critics question the government’s handling of the case, suggesting a reduction in sentencing. Despite controversy, Najib remains a divisive figure, with some defending him as a hero. The substantial tax amount raises questions about his income during his tenure as Prime Minister. LHDN’s calculations likely account for this significant sum.
