Young chess sensation Poh Yu Tian, aged 15, has been awarded the prestigious title of International Master (IM) after achieving a rating of 2,429 at the 8th East Asian Youth Chess Championship (EAYCC) held in Penang. Poh is now the youngest and 10th Malaysian to earn the IM title and the third from Penang.

The Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) extends heartfelt congratulations to all the young stars who have made the nation proud and look forward to their future accomplishments. Poh is the youngest and 10th player in Malaysia to win the title and the 3rd in Penang. Additionally, Kavin Mohan earned the Candidate Master (CM) title. Other notable achievements include Ainul Mardhiah Mohd Afif securing the Women FIDE Master (WFM) title, and Chow Yi Chen and Yap Ray Jin obtaining the CM title.
