SEPANG: The operation to evacuate 123 Malaysians from Bangladesh via a special flight, under the directive of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was successfully completed yesterday thanks to excellent cooperation from the Bangladeshi government and local authorities throughout the process.

The operation ran smoothly with the cooperation of government-to-government (G2G) agencies and all parties involved. The proof is that our citizens have arrived back safely,“ Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution said at KLIA Terminal 2. Kudos also to the Wisma Putra team.

“We did see a lot of things that we do not want to see, like army officers deployed everywhere, tanks and police with guns and all,” said a student to a news portal. Another one said during curfew, “We heard sounds of clashes. We felt scared as we heard that people were getting beaten up, and we couldn’t even go out to the market.”
