Google AI ad facing backlash
It begins with a father sharing how his daughter admires US hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, but turns awkward when he uses Gemini to help her write a fan letter. Critics argue it promotes reliance on AI over personal expression.
Syracuse University professor Shelly Palmer called it “disturbing,” while author Linda Holmes criticised it on BlueSky. Following the backlash, Google disabled YouTube comments. Concerns about AI replacing human creativity are growing, but Google has yet to respond.
