Japanese rider Shinji Nakano faced criticism from Malaysians after a collision with Shah Firdaus Sahrom during the Olympic keirin final. As both riders jostled for position, they collided, also involving Britain’s Jack Carlin. Shah Firdaus initially finished fourth but was relegated to sixth due to the incident. 

Netizens calling out Malaysians making racist remarks towards Shinji Nakano 

An X user states that it is particularly unfair for our people to make racist remarks towards our competitors. Constructive criticisms are always welcomed but unnecessary remarks should not be encouraged. Some users state that this is the standard behaviour, and others would do the same among each other.
