Bangladeshi workers send back RM2.1 billion
Now, under a caretaker government led by Muhammad Yunus, the nation is recovering. With renewed confidence in the new leadership, Bangladeshis abroad, including those in Malaysia, have resumed sending money home.
In the first 10 days of August, remittances surged to USD482.77 million (RM2.1 billion), a sharp increase from the RM425.5 million during the protests. Money changers in Malaysia have reported packed queues as Bangladeshi workers rush to send funds back to their families.
