Bank Negara Malaysia has imposed fines on Maybank and CIMB Bank for e-banking service outages that occurred in June and April, respectively. Maybank was fined RM4.3 million, while CIMB Bank received a RM760,000 penalty. Both banks have settled their fines.

Maybank’s fine was due to several disruptions with its Regional Mobile Banking Platform and MAE applications from June of the previous year to May, affecting multiple banking services. CIMB Bank’s fine resulted from service interruptions in April, which impacted e-banking, ATMs, and debit and credit card services.
