A beauty influencer on TikTok named @nyadollie recently received negative comments from Indonesian users in lieu of her skin tone. They started calling her “tahajud,” a prayer that is usually done at night. Netizens found comments like that to be inappropriate.  

Netizens upset at Indonesians making prayer times as a slur 

However, most Indonesian netizens agree with their Malaysian counterparts citing that these comments are unkind. Apparently some of these online trolls would justify these comments by saying it’s just a joke, or it is actually a good thing being compared to a prayer time. 

Regardless, most agree that bullying someone solely for their appearance is not something that should be normalised.
