In Kuala Lumpur, six members of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) scuba unit are examining sewer tunnels in the search for a sinkhole victim on Jalan Masjid India. Deputy Director Rozihan Anwar Mamat reported that two members enter the tunnels at a time, with inspections limited to 20 minutes per shift due to safety concerns.

Challenges include strong currents, confined spaces, and hazardous air quality. Nearby businesses have been temporarily closed during the search to ensure safety from toxic gases. By 5 p.m., four of the six sewers had been checked, with inspections continuing at two remaining locations.
