Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced that starting 2 September, airlines must provide full refunds for flights delayed by five hours or more. This policy is part of amendments to the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code 2016.
New policy mandates full refunds for 5-hour flight delays
Passengers can opt for a full refund if they choose not to proceed with the delayed flight. Refunds will be given using the original payment method, though alternatives like credit shells or flight vouchers are also available.
Loke emphasised that consumers have the right to choose their preferred refund method. Additionally, all cancelled flights must be removed from booking systems.
