New: S’porean man, 31, with Malaysian girlfriend, 38, could face death penalty. Why?

Brayden Ong, a 31-year-old Singaporean man, and his 38-year-old Malaysian girlfriend, Wang Wei Qing, face potential death penalties after being charged with drug trafficking in Johor. The couple was arrested on August 17 during police raids targeting their drug trafficking and processing syndicate. Operating from a terrace house in Johor for three months, the syndicate processed and distributed large quantities of drugs. Police seized over RM2 million (S$603,332) worth of drugs, including ecstasy and methamphetamine. Both suspects tested positive for drugs. Authorities continue to search for other members of the gang involved in the operation.
