Shuttler Cheah Liek Hou successfully defended his men’s singles SU5 gold medal at the Paris Paralympics, defeating Indonesia’s Suryo Nugroho 21-13, 21-15 in the final at La Chapelle Arena. Liek Hou, 36, showcased his experience and composure to retain the title he first won at Tokyo 2020, earning Malaysia’s first gold in Paris. Suryo, hindered by a right knee injury, struggled throughout the match. In other events, Wong Kar Gee narrowly missed a podium finish in the men’s long jump T12, while Nur Syaiful Zulkafli advanced to the men’s 100m breaststroke SB4 final in swimming.
