This is to no surprise that our neighbouring country, Thailand, has introduced a new marriage equality law in their country. However, netizens in Malaysia are discussing this among themselves. The law will be officially in place on 22nd January 2025. 

Netizens discussing Thailand’s LGBT marriage law 

Additionally, some users joked that if two boys or two girls respectively would go to Thailand together, they would be slightly suspicious. However, despite our neighbouring country passing this law, the marriage would not be recognised in Malaysia. 

Some users are making controversial statements about Thailand, citing that we are indirectly funding them to pass these laws. Meanwhile, others state that they’re there to enjoy the country for what it has to offer and not to pry too much on how the locals are living their lives.
