A new bill on home detention aims to provide an alternative punishment for about 20,000 eligible offenders, including first-time offenders, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities, according to Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. This initiative seeks to reduce prison overcrowding and offer rehabilitation opportunities.
