A former assistant at an exotic pet shop has been sentenced to a year in prison and two strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court for criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving over RM70,000. Judge Hamidah Mohamed Deril imposed the sentence on 25-year-old Muhammad Amirul Arsyad Ahmad Nor Hishamuddin, effective from his arrest on Oct 21.
Ex-Pet Shop Assistant Sentenced for RM78,200 Turtle Sale Fraud
Muhammad Amirul, previously employed at Lucid Vortex Sdn Bhd, was charged with embezzling RM78,200 from the sale of six Aldabra and Leopard tortoises. According to a police report, he sold the turtles but kept the proceeds. The accused was unrepresented in court.
