In an interview with Sinar, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin shared that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad felt disappointed and did not see eye-to-eye with him when he took over as Prime Minister in 2020. Despite this, Muhyiddin emphasized that he had the necessary experience and enough support to lead without consulting Mahathir, especially during the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Muhyiddin also stated that while he respects Mahathir’s statesmanship, he felt confident in his own ability to manage the crisis independently. Recently, Muhyiddin revealed he had sought Mahathir’s views on key issues affecting Malaysia’s future.
