Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria recently clarified remarks about “eyes, skin, and blood like mine,” stating he did not intend to insult any race. The Gunong Semanggol assemblyperson explained to Malaysiakini that his comments aimed at fostering unity among Malaysian Muslims, not singling out any group. There was a backlash from Chinese-language newspapers too regarding his speech but is now blaming media for misreporting. However, Professor Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi emphasized that the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) traveled to China first, and that one of the oldest mosques in the world is not located in the Malay Peninsula but in China—the Huaisheng Mosque. He said that such a leader is not a patriot or a defender of race and religion, but rather an opportunist who is shameful.
