MACC uncovered a cartel involved in the distribution and supply of rice fertilizer contracts, valued at RM1.8 billion, within an organization under a ministry’s control. Investigations over two days targeted locations in Kuala Lumpur, including the organization’s headquarters, the ministry, and nine companies awarded these projects. The ministry awarded the organization the RM1.8 billion project for 30 months from 2021 to 2023 to produce and distribute rice fertilizer to farmers nationwide. The MACC is investigating potential corruption in fertilizer procurement and abuse of power by board members in selecting certain suppliers. Relevant documents have been seized.
