An agriculture entomologist has warned consumers about pesticide residues in imported fruits and vegetables, which can pose health risks. Universiti Teknologi Mara lecturer Assoc Prof Dr Siti Noor Hajjar Md Latip advised the public to familiarize themselves with maximum residue limits (MRL) and Codex guidelines.

Long-term exposure to pesticides has been linked to neurological disorders, hormonal imbalances, reproductive problems, respiratory conditions, kidney and liver damage, and cancer.
Following a report on Shine Muscat grapes containing harmful residues, Siti Noor urged authorities to conduct regular inspections. Consumers are encouraged to check food labels and adhere to MRL standards to ensure safety.
