A whistleblower has provided Malaysiakini with a 17-second audio clip allegedly capturing a politician discussing a bribe he received to support a project in his state. The politician reportedly discussed repaying RM500,000 in instalments after the project’s licence was revoked. In the clip, two voices can be heard, including a businessperson’s digitally altered voice, clarifying the instalments: “RM200,000, RM200,000, RM100,000.” The politician claimed he had used the funds for a division meeting. The clip is part of eight videos, each featuring a different assemblyperson allegedly discussing bribes related to the same project, which the whistleblower plans to submit to MACC.
