Menteri Pertanian dan Keterjaminan Makanan, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, menyatakan bahawa masyarakat Cina lebih berjaya dalam mengusahakan durian hingga mampu mengeksport hasil berbanding masyarakat Melayu. Menurutnya, walaupun orang Melayu telah menanam produk turun-temurun, mereka belum mencapai tahap kejayaan yang sama dari segi komersialisasi dan eksport.
