She sent a selfie before disaster struck, says family

Suhaili Mat Saad, 47, affectionately known as “Kak Chik,” tragically drowned in a rafting accident at Sungai Jahang, Gopeng. Moments before the incident, she sent her family a selfie with the river in the background, unaware of the looming danger. Her sister, Ruhaili, shared the heartbreak of receiving calls from medical personnel, first urging her to encourage Suhaili, and later confirming her passing. Suhaili, a Public Works Department employee in Penang, was remembered as gentle and reserved. She participated in the rafting activity to challenge her fears. She was buried beside her father in Bandar Baharu, Kedah.
