KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Deputy Governor Adnan Zaylani Mohamad Zahid revealed alarming findings from BNM’s Financial Capability and Inclusion Survey, highlighting that 61% of Malaysians struggle to secure RM1,000 for emergencies. Poor financial management and saving habits remain pressing issues despite widespread access to financial services. Many Malaysians lack effective money management skills, leaving them financially vulnerable. Adnan emphasized the urgent need for better financial education to improve saving habits and address digital financial literacy. He also warned of risky behaviors, such as sharing banking passwords, which increase susceptibility to scams and other financial risks.
