The Ministry of Transport (MOT) is open to reviewing proposals for real-time monitoring systems and CCTV in heavy vehicles to monitor driver behavior. Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated that any proposal must consider cost, effectiveness, practicality, and industry suitability.

MOT Open to Real-Time Monitoring Proposals for Heavy Vehicles

The Ministry will engage with experts and stakeholders. Calls have been made to implement real-time monitoring for heavy vehicle drivers to reduce accidents caused by human factors. GPS tracking can provide real-time feedback on driving performance.

From January to September, small lorries, trailers, and container lorries were the top contributors to commercial vehicle accidents.
