D for Madani
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged the “D” grade given to his administration by electoral reform group Bersih but remained optimistic about future improvements. He attributed the grade to the government’s two-year tenure, noting that progress takes time. “It’s okay to get a ‘D’ now; we aim for an ‘A’ in the future,” he quipped in Parliament on Nov 21. Bersih’s mid-term evaluation criticized the Pakatan Harapan-led government for its lack of significant institutional reforms, ranking Anwar below his predecessors. Anwar also reiterated his openness to fair allocations for the Opposition, emphasizing the need for negotiations.
