Police Officer Denies Stealing Jewelry from Deceased Woman

A police officer, Lance Cpl Mohd Alifah Mohd Sapie, 35, pleaded not guilty to stealing a necklace and bracelet from a deceased woman found in a car on October 1. Charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code, he faces up to seven years imprisonment or a fine if convicted.

The deputy public prosecutor did not propose bail due to the non-bailable offence but requested a high amount if granted. The court set bail at RM3,500. The victim’s father, a former senior police officer, reported the missing jewelry.
