Kedah’s ambitious RM40 billion Langkasuka development project has suffered a setback after Dubai-based Bin Zayed International (BZI) confirmed it withdrew from the venture. BZI cited a lack of value and realistic turnaround potential for the decision, marking their exit since 2022. The project, initially a collaboration with Widad Business Group, aimed to transform Langkawi into a premier mixed-development hub. Instead, BZI has shifted focus to other real estate ventures in Malaysia, including projects in Kuala Lumpur and Kulim, Kedah, alongside renewable energy investments. This decision ends hopes for Langkasuka to leverage BZI’s global expertise and funding.
