A viral TikTok video showcases the ever so popular MRT Pasar Seni station, where there is barely any room for commuters to wait for their train. Additionally, this has come as a rebuttal to several studies done years ago citing the lack of usage for these systems.
MRT System overcrowded with commuters
A TikTok user claims that this is the reason why they quit their office job. There are others asking why isn’t everyone bringing in their cars to work. Netizens respond citing that parking tickets are expensive and the traffic jams are not entirely worth it.
Regardless, some may attribute the lack of train frequencies in certain places that can add up to this large of a crowd. Singapore’s rapid transit system would have a 1 minute gap between each train, while we would have a 3-4 minute gap.
