Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, president of Bersatu, stressed the need for a National Reconciliation initiative to unite Malaysia. He emphasized that this initiative should channel the strengths, knowledge, and experience of all parties, including political, civil society organizations, and community leaders. Muhyiddin believes reconciliation will help rebuild Malaysia as a strong, respected nation on the global stage. He also pointed out that government policies burdening the people must end, and that harmony among different races and religions must be restored, while upholding Islam, Bahasa Melayu, and the status of Malays and bumiputras.
