Malaysian celebrity preacher Firdaus Wong revealed that Prof. Dr. Lingham Pillai, President of the Malaysian Yoga Sports Association, urged him to advise Muslims against practicing yoga due to a fatwa from JAKIM.
Preacher Urged to Warn Muslims Against Yoga
Dr. Lingham, a Hindu, emphasized that yoga originates from Hinduism and Muslims should respect the fatwa. He reached out to Wong to spread the message, concerned that some yoga instructors were promoting it to Muslims, claiming it could make them better Muslims.
Instead, Dr. Lingham encouraged Muslims to focus on the health benefits of properly performing Islamic prayers.
