KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 — Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak testified in court that fugitive financier Jho Low exploited his trust, leading to allegations of Najib’s complicity in 1MDB’s mismanagement. Describing Low as a “charismatic” figure with royal connections, Najib said he believed Low could advance Malaysia’s interests, citing examples like facilitating the evacuation of Malaysians during the Arab Spring and increasing Malaysia’s Haj quota. Najib insisted he never authorized wrongdoing and accused prosecution witnesses of over-sensationalizing his ties with Low, whose actions, he argued, were solely driven by deceit and betrayal of trust.
