The Court of Appeal reduced Zuraida Kamaruddin’s liability to PKR from RM10 million to RM100,000 for breaching a party bond. Justice See Mee Chun ruled the original amount was “exorbitant.”
Zuraida’s Liability to PKR Slashed from RM10 Million to Just RM100,000
The court also awarded PKR RM40,000 in costs. PKR sued Zuraida in 2020 for joining Bersatu, claiming compensation under the Contracts Act 1950. Zuraida argued the bond was unconstitutional.
The High Court had previously ordered her to pay RM10 million. Zuraida accepted the court’s decision, sarcastically stating she would pay in RM1 notes.
