The cost of living in the Klang Valley surged by 6.7% between 2022 and 2024, making it Malaysia’s most expensive region, according to the EPF’s latest Belanjawanku guide. The guide, developed with the Social Wellbeing Research Centre, details minimum monthly expenses for various households.
Klang Valley Living Costs Surge 6.7% in Two Years
Increases ranged from 2.1% to 8%. For example, single individuals with a car now need RM2,800 monthly, up from RM2,600. Married couples with two children now require RM7,440, an 8% increase. Childcare and food costs were significant factors. Financial struggles are linked to limited literacy, rising costs, and wage issues.
