LONDON – A rare “one-in-a-billion” spherical egg sold for £200 at an auction, supporting mental health initiatives for youths in Oxfordshire.
The egg, discovered in Ayr, Scotland, in a supermarket egg box, was purchased for £150 by Ed Pownell, who donated it to the Iuventas Foundation—initially viewed as a joke, the unique egg raised funds for mentoring and mental health services.

David Miller from Thomson Roddick Callan, the auction house managing the sale, described spherical eggs as an extremely rare phenomenon. The auction contributed to the charity’s total collection of £5,000, helping more youths access vital support.
