Following earlier reports of five cats attacked, a cat carcass was discovered near Universiti Malaya’s (UM) gymnasium and a dog was also killed in the same manner. The animals were found with their stomachs slit and intestines removed, prompting UM’s student union (KMUM) to file a police report and request tightened campus security. Kuala Lumpur police confirmed receiving the report and are investigating. Activists suspect anesthesia was used to silence the animals during the attacks. Veterinarian scans on one cat, Lily, revealed similar injuries. Concerned volunteers have since rescued 22 stray cats from the campus. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage for leads.
