Economic Minister Rafizi Ramli criticized calls to boycott the People’s Income Initiative (IPR), stressing that such actions unfairly harm struggling families benefiting from the program. He urged, “Don’t boycott the poor and low-income families benefiting from the project. Helping the underprivileged is a duty in Islam.”

Deputy Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib revealed 2,536 participants from the hardcore poor, low-income, and B40 groups have joined the initiative. Some participants, like those in the Food Entrepreneur Initiative (IPR-INSAN), earn up to RM5,000 monthly. The program targets inclusivity, with significant participation from Malay, Sabah, Sarawak, Indian, and other ethnic groups.
